The Mount Shasta Trail Association and BikeShasta.org are applying for grant funds to complete the Shastice Bike Park in Shastice Park in Mount Shasta. The two organizations have been working for about a year on plans to create a new local venue for budding and more accomplished mountain bikers to practice and refine their skills in a community bike park setting.

The park will include a flow trail, beginner and advanced dirt jumps, and skills features for all levels.

To date, the Trail Mount Shasta Trail Association, BikeShasta.org, Mountain Wheelers, Owens Healthcare, IMBA, and the Shasta Regional Community Foundation have pledged over $30,000 for the completion of phase one of the project.

Mount Shasta’s Recreation and Parks District has provided the site in Shastice Park. BikeShasta.org has contracted with a professional trail builder from the International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA) to oversee construction. The park, however, will be designed by local riders Leif Hansen and Eli Newman. Construction will began in the spring of 2014.
